Fortissimo picks up 'Wetlands'
LONDON -- Fortissimo Films has snapped up international sales rights, excluding Canada, to Guy Edoin's "Wetlands," which is preeming at the Venice Film Festival in the International Critics' Week section on Sept. 3. Following the Venice preem, the French-Canadian helmer's pic is also headed to the Toronto Film Festival, where it will screen in the Canada First! section on Sept. 9. Metropole Films Distribution is releasing the film in Canada. Story, which Edoin also penned, unfolds on a dairy farm in rural Canada where tragedy strikes, leaving a young widow to deal with a rebellious teenage son who is in the process of discovering his sexuality. Pic toplines Pascale Bussieres, Gabriel Maille, Luc Picard, Francois Papineau, Angele Coutu and Denise Dubois. Max Films' Luc Vandal and Felize Frappier produce.
